A typical ejactulation is 40,000,000 sperm, but only a couple hundred actually make it into your uterus. I experience the exact same thing as you. My doctor says that most likely what we are feeling immediately after we stand following intercourse is not ALL of the sperm, but some as well as the fluid it is ejaculated in mixed with your arrousal fluid. My RE had me lay for 1 hour after intercourse during my fertile period to make sure as many sperm as possible got passed my cervix into my uterus and it sounds like you can benefit from that advice.

If you are concerned, you could have a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) performed to be sure your tubes aren't blocked, but that would not cause sperm to exit the body, just not make it to the egg, and you could also have a hysteroscopy performed to check for any abnormalities of the uterus that may prefent sperm from getting past your cervix. I had a uterine septum removed last october. A uterine septum is the most common malformation of the uterus, where the uterus is divided into two by a wall, like your nose, which can cause miscarriages if the embryo implants on the septum and a uterine septum can block fertilization by preventing sperm from reaching the mature egg.

I have a question for fertilitygal. Can a hysteroscopy make you infertile. I had one 3 years ago and I have had two miscarriages within 1 year. I am allergic to all of the contraceptives, so we have not been using any protection to not get pregnant for the 6 years that we have been pregnant and we only have one son. I also had an IUD which I was allergic to and they said that I had extra tissue in my cervix because of the IUD and so they went in and did a hysteroscopy. Please give me some insight. Thanks

A hysteroscopy is the act of using a thin telescope called a hysteroscope to view the inside of the uterus. I've never heard of any complications that would cause a hysteroscopy to cause infertility. Did you have a leep to remove the extra tissue from your cervix?

What is a leep? They did remove extra tissue from the cervix because of and IUD that I had. Ever since the IUD I have painful intercourse with my hubby. Can you explain this to me? I am new at all of this!
