I've been charting my fertility for about 6 months now (ever since my miscarriage in June 09) and I've noticed something weird. The months that we tried and were unsuccessful, I had spotting occurring at around 9-10DPO (including this month). I will note that when this spotting starts my temps are still up ...the longest time was 2 cycles ago when I spotted for 6 days before AF finally started and my temps were still high.

So, last month we were not able to try because DH was out of town during my fertile period and I got AF on schedule with only about half a day of spotting leading up to it. totally normal! My luteal phase is always 14 days from the time I ovulate to the time AF really shows up but that's not counting the spotting days. Could I have a possible LP defect or because my temps are still up for the 14 days until Af really starts, do you think the spotting won't affect anything?

This cycle I started spotting yesterday (10DPO) with some light cramping yesterday and today and I am not expecting AF until friday. I don't get why this is happening and why is it only in the months that we are 'trying'? Would it be possible that when the egg is unsuccesfully implanted that it could trigger some minor shedding of the lining that would cause this spotting and cramping? Then once my temps decrease at around 14DPO AF starts? I am just very confused and would love to try to make some sense out of this. I mentioned the spotting to my Dr and she didn't seem too concerned, but then again she never really is. I would love to find a helpful dr but I live in a small town and don't really have the option, so I am turning to you guys to see if you have any advice. Anything would be appreciated...thanks.

This is my post. Sorry it's so long, I am just getting really frustrated. In the spring DH and I were able to get pregnant on the 2nd cycle of trying but m/c. Now it's been over 6 months since and still nothing.

I don't think that spotting four days before af is too unusual- sometimes it happens to me, too. It's never predictable for me, some months I spot and some I don't. I always think of it at a good sign- at first for implantation- and then usually as a sign that af is on her way. You could have your OB draw some blood and they can measure your hormones at the end (or beginning) of your cycle to make sure that your levels are in check. I would wait and see. It's only been six months and cycles can be really weird, esp. after m/c. Good luck- keep us updated.

Thanks love2laugh...I guess I am just hoping that the spotting is not shortening my LP and causing any problems with implantation. I used to be so "regular" so all this is really weird and confusing for me.

AF has still not officially arrived yet so I guess it's not over till she rears her ugly head. The spotting has been light and has not stopped yet so I am sure that it is pre AF but who knows?
