Ok so I know this may sound crazy but have you ever tried the syringe method to get pregnant? I ask because I did in December and I got pregnant but it ended in a m/c and I am going to try again this month to. Just thaught i would ask. And if you dont what it is. You buy a collection cup and a syringe you have your partner ejaculate in the collection cup and they you use the syringe and suck it up and you put in you. and then you have to have a orgasim. BABY DUST TO EVERY ONE IF YOU HAVENT TRIED THIS I WOULD TRY IT...

I havent heard of straight couples doing this, but great to hear someone does its most commonly used by lesbian couples trying to conceive, we have also had a m/c but it was a very early m/c hoping it works this month.. baby dust to all!!

Have you ever tried instead cups??? I did, and they didn't quite work for me, only because I can't get them in right. Apparently my cervix is tilted (???) and I can't exactly get them to sit right.

But I DEFINITELY think they are worth a try for you, and I've heard a lot of success stories.

Have your partner ejaculate into the cup, then (carefully, so not to spill any of the baby batter) place it into your vagina (and hopefully it will sit right for you). Now, you have a cup of baby batter sitting there next to the cervical opening.

Hope this helps!!!

@ star2982 i have never tried that. Because i think i might get it stuck in there or something. But I did get pregnant using the syringe method before. I will have to try this next month because in september i go in for the IUI

I don't think you could get it stuck... its too big to get lost anywhere. It is like a bigger condom with a harder outter ring, which makes it very easy to hook it with your finger and then pull it out. I used a whole box of them (trying them out with my periods too) and I never got the sensation that it would have gotten stuck... Hope that helps :)

I do use instead cups but we have sex and I keep them right by the bedside. I grab a instead cup and put it in and elevate the hips. This works too if it's too weird to ejaculate in the cup. Then I leave it in overnight! Good luck!

I have thought of using that method (except I heard about using a turkey baster) due to my vulvodynia which makes bd almost unbearably painful. But lately the pain has been bearable. If the pain gets bad again we have considered using this method. Just curious, why would you have to have an orgasm? And what about this method makes it more effective than bd?

The female orgasm or the contractions are supposed to help "guide" the sperm up to the egg. I'm not sure where exactly I heard this, but seems like a good reason. Fun to have one anyway when you're trying:) good luck

Just wanted to say that I know this is why I got pregnant. If you havent tried it. I would try it. :) I am now 29 weeks after trying for 5 1/2 years

linriyum said on 1/17/2011 10:24:34 AM Report this post
melissa, why do you think this worked and not just bd?

melissaphelps said on 1/17/2011 4:20:48 PM Report this post
Because hubby and I always tried BDing for 5 1/2 years and nothing. And the month we do the syringe method I got pregnant. Just saying

You need all sterile supplies. Also you do not have to have the big "O". You need to let the sperm sit in the sterile cup for 10 mins before you push it up there. My doctor told me to try this, this month. He gave me instructions. I posted about this, this week but put IUI and I meant the syringe method.
