Hello all,

Last week, I went to see my gynocologist and I asked her if it's okay to do vigorous exercises during the week of ovulation if you're ttc. I like vigorous exercises and run 5 miles, 4 days a week (although I've done nothing this past month!). She told me that fertility doctors would say that it's best to avoid vigorous exercises while TTC...period! That means anytime of the month! She said to do lighter exercises instead.

I've only been TTC the last 4-5 months, so I don't have a fertility issue as of yet (the last time I got pregnant, it took me a month). Has anyone been told this? She says that I'm already petite (I'm 5'3, 102 pounds), so light exercises about 30 minutes a day should be okay for me. I really want to get back to running, but I'd rather get pregnant! :o)

Has anyone been told this?

well i never exercised vigorously so was not an issue for me. but if you cute the running down to 1-2 days a week, and did moe moderate exercie the rest of the week that coudnt hut to try. also, as soon as you get pg, running vigorously 4 days a week prob would not be a good idea... at least this way you could start scaling back the strenuousness of your exercise program gradually. granted, i know ppl who are hard core runners who kept it up througout their pg and were fine, but for the most part, i think there is some doubt as to whether thats a good/safe idea for most ppl. do you already have a child? did you exercise alo during that pegnancy?

I was a very avid gym bunny lol I would workout 5-6 times a week between the pool and the gym and workout very vigourously. Got worse after my m/c in May too. I would workout til I threw up. Didn't hurt my chances. Not only would i pound out the cardio, I discovered I love to run as well, but I was into crunches and weights really hard too.

Well, the first time I got pregnant, I worked out pretty vigorously. It took me only a month to get pregnant, but I guess it wasn't as strenuous as other months (I was running probably about 3 times a week). I didn't work out during my pregnancy because I was too nauseous.

My daughter passed away 6 days after she was born and I'm also dealing with that too. I've gotten back to working out with my daughter as inspiration and I also use it to calm my body down from the whole mourning process. I'm in a bit of a dilemma because it's my way of dealing with the loss, but I also desperately want to start a family again.

I don't mean to bring my daughter up in every post I write, but this is sort of my life. Anyway, I was just curious if anybody got the same information from their gynocologist.

I'm thinking about getting into yoga and pilates. I hear it's a very good workout and relaxes the body and mind.

I had to cut that off short I wasn't done lol My son got hurt so I hit send and ran lol

I really think all my working out is what helped to get me pregnant though it took a year. I took a few weeks off the hard stuff when I got pregnant because the morning sickness was so intense. After it waned off I picked it up just as vigoursly, curbing the crunches after 5 months because i couldn't anymore. It helped me to only gain 15 pounds in nine months. I'm now only a few weeks away from delivery and I still workout 3 days a week though I've kept it limited to the pool only now. I am very fond of water aerobics. I plan on taking no more than 6 weeks off vaginal or c-section delivery before I get back into my workout regimen.

i am so very sorry to hear about your loss, as all of us on here are TTC, pregnant or already moms, you can imagine that uor hearts ache for you and we have nothing but empathy. I wouldn't worry about TTC taking longer this time around (ok, let me rephrase that - I probably would worry too bc im a worrier - but you SHOULDNT worry!), I know lots of women who got pregnant very quickly first time around and it took much longer the 2nd time around... or vice versa... lots of women on here, actually. as for yoga and pilates - i think that's a wonderful idea, i was into for awhile until i hurt a muscle (unrelated incident) and had to stop, and havent gottem back to it since. but its great for relaxation, great for stress, your muscles... and it is a wonderful thing to continue once you are pg. good luck and keep us all posted!
