So this may sound a little over dramatic to those of you who have been thru this but bear with me. I talked to my doctor today and finally admited that we had been trying for 16 mo. Of course she wanted to know why I hadnt come to see her sooner. Its prolly counter productive but I was afraid of what they would find and tell me if I started digging deeper into us not being pregnant yet. So she set me up for a uterine ultra sound and then I have an appointment in five weeks to discuss (based on ultrasound results) taking clomid. My first reaction was to burst into to tears but after a few hours I started feeling positive about it, like I was starting fresh almost. So anyways I need some info from you wonderful ladies. I thought clomid was to get someone to ovulate and based on my clear blue easy monitor I have been ovulating so why would I need clomid? Im just concerned that now that I have finally let the cat out of the bag to the doc that we are going to start off on the wrong foot and not address the right problem. Is it a protocoll for docs to start at the same point for every patient? In the end I am being really gun shy about anyone assisting in us getting pregnant and if the beggining ends up being negative that I might ditch the whole thing and just continue crossing my fingers every month. Please, please give me any advice you can. I feel like i am spiralling out of control with this. thank you to all the very supportive ladies out there and your infinite knowledge. Baby dust

I personally have never taken Clomid, but have read that yes it does help women ovulate but will also help women who already ovulate produce mature healthy eggs (if that happens to be the problem).
I do not think you are starting off on the wrong foot. You would be lucky if that is all it is. Good luck to you both!

For me personal, I've been only trying since this past fall and become so impatient I don't mind getting the extra help we may need or finding out if there is a reason I have been unable to get pregnant. And this is only because every month that has gone by and another period comes, I get very upset, which I know doesn't help in the long run. So I feel that making an appointment, which I plan to do tomorrow, will help ease my frustrations.
I think your on a road to success, just keeping going with it and don't quit!!! Good luck - baby dust :)

I have taken clomid. I am also, like you and ovulate on my own. I got pregnant with my daughter on clomid (2nd round). And I am now pregnant again after trying 9 months (3rd round of clomid with trigger this time). So I am a clomid girl you could say. We tried for 10 months then went on clomid and 2nd round I was pregnant. This time we tried for 6 months then went on clomid and my 3 round of clomid got pregnant. I know that was saying the same thing twice but that way you get the picture more accurately. I am only 4 weeks and 4 days so I am really early but still pregnant so I would say GO FOR IT!!! I would recommend taking clomid days 3-7 then on day 13 going in for a u/s and if you have a mature egg getting the trigger shot which will make you release your egg or eggs within 24 hours so it makes it easier to time intercourse. Good luck!

Thank you all for your responses you have boosted my out look on the whole thing. mroossink: I am so glad you told me about your experience, now I am very excited. I've never heard of the trigger thing but I am sure to bring it up to my doc next. I would like to make this as easy as possible b/c like most I have been obssessed about it forever. I hope I come out of it with the same results you did. B/c to me it feels like there is nothing seriously wrong with the function of my body (of course it could be wishful thinking) so I just had a hard time taking the next step when i felt nothing was wrong with me, but you never know. Again thanks so much and I will keep you update as I go thru this roller coaster I am sure I am about to experience. Baby dust ladies and Mroossink good luck with your pregnancy I hope you enjoy it every step of the 9 mo.

Hi Krysanne. I also ovulate on my own and started clomid this month. My RE put me on it to help ensure more healthy eggs for IUI. It is supposed to increase the number and quality. Had my IUI a week ago so I'm patiently waiting. :) Good luck to you!

Hey Krys, What was your first appointment like? I've been off bcp for a year and 3 months and we've probably not tried 6 of those months..my midwife said if I wanted to come in for "the" appointment, I could do it sooner than later....we stopped trying but aren't preventing but I do think I want to go to the appointment because I'm just curious why I'm not a super fertile that we would have conceived anyway...
What all did you go over and what kind of exam and does any of it hurt?
