My AF came 7 days late last cycle after a miscarriage the previous cycle. I did an OPK on day six of this cycle and it came back positive. My temp also went up the following day. Is it possible to ovulate that early in my cycle?? It's now day 15 and I have not had a positive OPK since...

Hello Jen,
It is quite possible to ovulate that early in your cycle. I am assuming that your period was shorter than usual? Some women ovulate right after completing their period and some ttc books I have read suggested using OPKs that early if you are unaware of your cycle or if you keep receiving negative OPKs in the middle of your cycle. Has your BB temp stayed high? If it has, then most likely you did ovulate, if it has dropped again, you might have had an LH surge and not ovulated.
Also, if I hadn't tested twice in one day one month I would have missed my LH surge completely. When I tested again the next day, another negative OPK. It appeared that my LH surge lasted about 6-10 hours! So, I was lucky that I decided to test twice in one day just barely catching the LH surge and impending ovulation!
Also, OPKs monitor the amount of LH your body has metabolized and secreted in your urine. Some OPKs suggest testing around 2-6pm, well, if you have only been up since 1pm, maybe testing at 5pm would not be helpful since your body hasn't metabolized the LH surge yet!
I personally found it so frustrating since the only way to truly know you have ovulated is if you are in the doctor's office physically watching the ovulation or you get pregnant! (You can even have a period without ovulating! gah!)
If you keep receiving negative OPKs and your BB temp is still high, my best guess is you have ovulated! Enjoy the BD'ing! ;)
Blessings,
Leah

My AF was shorter than usual. My temps did stay high until about day 12 when they dropped for a day and then went back up again. Ot well, we did b'd on the day I received the positive OPK and for 3 days after. We also b'd three times this week just in case I ovulate later in my cycle. Cover all my bases I guess and keep positive. Thanks for the info!!
