OK, i have a strange question, i read that after you O, the egg is absorbed back into your body, i figured i should have O'd on the 10th, and my DH and I did the BD on the 8th, well on the 9th, i wiped and had this really slippery stuff, and what looked like a blob of jelley, i had the slippery stuff until the 13th, and now i am just exceptionaly wet(which is odd, normaly before my AF shows, i am dry, AF should be here the 24th) Could that blob have been the egg, is that possible, how could i have had AF on 3/30 and O on 4/9, can you even do that? Any advice would be great, and i apologize for the graphic nature. Thanks and BABY DUST TO EVERYBODY!

Hello onmymind17,
Although the egg (oocyte) is the largest cell found in the human body, it is still only 100 micrometers in diameter (only about 50 times larger than a large bacterium). You would need a microscope to see your sloughed off egg. Also, if the egg isn't fertilized it is discarded with your uterine lining (your period), not prior.
Since you are TTC, I am assuming that you and your husband are having sex without prophylactics (condoms etc). The "slippery stuff" that you found on your TP was a combination of sperm and your personal vaginal fluids/discharge leaving your vaginal cavity. It is a quite normal side effect of TTC.
If you have sex all the way leading up to your period, it might indeed be harder for you use your vaginal fluid as a fertility indicator. If you are using the BBT Chart on this site, make sure to indicate when you have had sex. I personally, will be wet for at least 30 hours after having sex, so while TTC I had problems using vaginal discharge as an indicator but it did not hinder me becoming successfully pregnant. It really depends on your body and how long it takes superfluous sperm to leave your body.
Yes, it is possible to Ovulate 10 days after the first day of your period. Some women ovulate immediately after their period...the plethora of differences in each human body is amazing, isn't it?
I suggest reading some books specific to fertility as they can be great resources for any TTC questions you might have. A good book is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. You can find it on Amazon.com.
Blessings,
Leah

Leah,
Thank you so much!! That explains so much for me. As for the wetness, my DH and i have not done it since the 12th, so i am pretty sure it's not from that, but your information on this is also helpful. I am so relieved to know the answer to my question, again thank you so much, and may God bless you with lots of Baby Dust.

I actually think that the 'blob' is egg white mucous which is the most fertile mucous. The slippery stuff is the wet mucous and this is also showing you are very fertile. Hope you did lots of baby dancing around this time! Sending you baby dust!****

I am certainly not trying to counter anything that Leah has said, but I have a couple questions for you.
1. What day of your cycle did you O?
The "blob of jelly" sounds like CLASSIC fertile mucous to me. It looks like egg whites typically. Sometimes it can be an almost solid substance! Kinda gross in a way...!
2. How old are you?
When I was in my early-mid twenties I had fabulous fertile mucous that was the classic egg-white consistency and it lasted for a couple to three days.
You may be experiencing post BD moisture, but what you are describing sounds like good ol' fertile mucus, aka EWCM. (In my opinion)
I hope this helps, too!
Baby Dust to you!!

Thank you for your replies, you have really lifted my spirits. Corina to answer your questions, i believe it would have been the 12th day of my cycle that i O'd, Your are correct in the description of the mucous, it was almost solid, and squishy LOL, thats the only way i can describe it. I am 40 years old right now, and have always (before and after BC) had this come out 2 weeks before AF, that is why i always thought it was the egg, althoug i feel so stupid now for asking that duh! of course it would be tiny, either that or my DH has giant sperm LOL. You guys have no idea how much better i feel now, i still have hope, and i have nothing to complain about, if i am pregnant, this was the first month that we tried. You ladies are so strong in your spirits, they just shine though the screen to me. I can't thank you enough for your advice, you would think at 40 that i would know this stuff, but alas no. I just have to say, this is just so exciting!! Then again, it could be just because its finally Spring here, we actually have warmth (Chicago really sucks in the winter). Thanks again for all your help.
Chris Baby dust to all, let April be THE month for all of us!!

Well i tried taking a test on Sunday which would be 4 days before my AF should be here, and it was a BFN. I still dont know if i am pregnant yet, i have been tired, cramps off and on, and now yesterday a little dizzy at times, but i keep thinking thats just PMS. I guess i will have to wait until the 24th and see. Wish me luck, and Baby dust to all of you.
