Second Trimester
Your Baby - Month 4
This month, your baby's skin is pink and somewhat transparent. Its head and face continue to develop with eyebrows and eyelashes making an appearance along with buds that will become your baby's outer ear. The tail your baby once had has disappeared and its head makes up about half of its size! By the end of the month, your baby's neck will be long enough to lift its head from its body.
This month, your baby moves, kicks, sleeps, wakes, swallows, and passes urine. You may start to feel a slight sensation in your lower abdomen (called quickening). This feels like bubbles or fluttering. When you feel the baby's movement, write down the date and tell your doctor as it will help her to determine when your baby is due.
By the end of the fourth month, your baby will be 8 to 10 inches long and will weigh about 6 ounces.
