Conceiving a Girl is Easy...Patience is the Virtue
If you're hoping the color pink will be in your baby's future, you are not without hope. Many couples have had success conceiving a girl using the Shettles Method, as coined by Dr. Shettles in his book How to Choose the of Your Baby. Your FertilityGal calendar makes it easy to see when you maximize the chances of conceiving a girl: just look for the pink hearts.
Dr. Shettles concludes that couples trying for a girl need to have intercourse beginning the day after the woman's menstrual period ends, and continue to have intercourse every other day up through 3 days before ovulation. The Shettles Method stresses that continuing to have intercourse beyond this point (2 days before ovulation through the end of the woman's menstrual cycle) diminishes the chances of conceiving a girl.
The Shettles Method works because men produce both X (female) and Y (male) sperm. The male sperm are smaller and weaker, but faster, than the female sperm. They don't survive as long as their female counterparts. The Female sperm are bigger and stronger, but slower than the male sperm. Armed with this information, you can see that having intercourse close to ovulation allows male sperm to rush to the egg, leaving you seeing blue.
